Lighthouse Lands in Shenzhen | An Architecture of Light, A Vessel of the Heart

Connect art with brands and institutions to enrich the cultural beauty of the world.

Anese Eun Cho is a contemporary artist from Seoul with Mongolian heritage, currently based in Dallas. She trained at Pratt Institute in New York and Ewha Womans University in Seoul, and continued her artistic inquiry under the mentorship of Robert Glaisek. This journey did not confine her to a specific style; instead, it strengthened her resolve to embrace an expression that is entirely her own.
Her work carries a soft yet unwavering force—moving across identities, geographies, and the many times life requires one to begin again. With warmth, optimism, and quiet fearlessness, she breaks through the boundaries that once tried to contain her. She is not depicting the world; she is inviting the world to feel itself anew. Her art is like a deep breath: silent, yet capable of holding the human heart with absolute steadiness.
Art Installation Lighthouse Lands in Shenzhen

This Lighthouse project was recommended to the Sea World Culture and Arts Centre (SWCAC) by Art Belina, marking the second collaboration between the two institutions. Along the shoreline of Shekou, Shenzhen, a house made of light quietly comes to life.
Coinciding with SWCAC’s 8th anniversary, the institution announced that starting from December 2025, it will officially collect Lighthouse, a newly created light installation generously donated to Shenzhen by artist Anese Eun Cho. This “spiritual dwelling,” built not with walls but with light, shaped not by edges but by gentleness, will stand facing the sea breeze and shifting tides alongside millions of visitors. It will become a place to return to — and a place to depart from — a resting point for those who feel lost, allowing the warmth and radiance of culture to continue flowing with the waves.

Opening & Lighting
At 5:30 pm, the light was officially turned on. The sea breeze, the sound of tides, and the breath of the crowd all folded quietly into the glow. It felt as if the entire city had taken a deep breath together. Wilson Zhou Wei once again opened the ceremony, introducing this beam of light to everyone present. During the interactive session, we invited visitors to draw “the little house in their hearts.” Countless passersby were drawn in to create their own versions on-site. In that moment, Lighthouse became a vessel—carrying the stories of everyone who encountered it.

Artist Talk
In the SWCAC Members’ Space, we opened the very first public conversation around Lighthouse. The atmosphere was quiet — like a gathering held gently in the palms of light.
Anese spoke about her practice, her experiences, her years of drifting, healing, and why she chose light as the shape of “home.” In that moment, Lighthouse was no longer merely an artwork. It became a refuge for the heart — a small sanctuary glowing from within. Its warm yellow light flickered like a campfire, dispelling loneliness and cold, offering each visitor the courage to move forward again. During the sharing, the artist unfolded the emotions and stories hidden behind the light. Art, she reminded us, illuminates not only the space around us, but also the inner landscapes we often forget to see. Wilson Zhou Wei, Co-founder of Art Belina,
expressed three acknowledgments in his opening remarks:
— gratitude to SWCAC for its trust and collaboration
— gratitude to the artist for entrusting Lighthouse to Shenzhen
— gratitude to every person willing to step into this “house made of light” In that moment, Lighthouse shifted from an institutional project to a shared connection—between the city, its people, and the emotions that quietly bind us all.

Why Shenzhen?
Because this city belongs to those who are always on their way,
to those who are learning to find home again,
to those who allow themselves to be touched gently by the light.
Lighthouse does not urge you to return,
Nor does it ask you to explain.
It simply leans toward you and whispers—
✨ “It’s safe here. If you’d like, you may stop and rest for a while.”
